About me

I have been living in Cyprus since 2000. I grew up here and graduated from high school. Cyprus has become my home country and I have a good understanding of the local market and mentality.

After school I continued my studies in the UK, where I obtained a Bachelor's (BEng) and Master's (MSc) degree in Civil Engineering. Studying gave me a strong foundation for my career.

For eight years I worked for major structural design and engineering consultancies in the UK. I was involved in government and private projects including infrastructure projects (bridges and railroads) and commercial and residential buildings.

To broaden my professional expertise, I have additionally pursued a law degree.

Mistakes of the builder when handing over the apartment: elimination of 95% of defects

The client turned to us at the final stage of drawing up the acceptance certificate for a three-room apartment in a new building. He wanted to make sure that the object complied with the stated characteristics and the terms of the contract. However, the inspection revealed defects as well as unauthorized changes to the layout without the owner's consent.

Solution:

Hinode conducted a detailed inspection of the property and identified a number of irregularities, including errors in finishes, engineering systems and deviations from the design. We were able to get 95% of the defects corrected. The most serious problem was a change in layout that could have caused the client to lose some living space. We collected evidence, confirmed the builder's mistakes and obtained compensation in the form of free correction of the changes. It should be noted that many problems could have been avoided if we had been contacted in good time.

The client turned to us with a serious problem - the developer refused to eliminate construction defects in a new building, violating the terms of the contract. After repeated attempts to resolve the situation with the builder, he refused to make adjustments despite his contractual obligations. Moreover, he filed a lawsuit against our client, accusing him of failing to pay for post-correction works that were not actually carried out.

Solution:

Hinode experts conducted a detailed technical inspection of the facility and documented more than 500 construction defects. We then initiated a process with an independent engineering and technical chamber (ETEC) and acted as the main point of contact between the client and the inspection authorities. The case is currently before the court and we continue to provide full legal support to the client, defending his right to receive quality housing.
